Disconnect the disposal.
Garbage disposal hex wrench won t turn.
Give it a turn.
Use a 1 4 inch hex key if you do not have a garbage disposal wrench.
My garbage disposal will not turn with wrench counter clockwise.
Once you begin to rotate the grinding plate debris will begin to break off.
Do not force it beyond its capacity not to break.
Rotate the hex key clockwise and.
Seems like it has gotten ripped and is sticking up.
By doing this you will manually rotate the grinding.
Once you have the right allen wrench you ll want to.
Turn the wrench back and forth repeatedly and forth repeatedly.
Use some tongs.
If it won t turn it s time to call the manufacturer or look up the specific unit s manual online for further advice.
Insert a garbage disposal wrench into the center opening in the bottom of the disposal.
Then turn it clockwise until it won t go any further.
Try that and see if there s any foreign object jamming the blades.
If not go back to the allen wrench and continue trying to move it back and forth.
Once the blades turn look for a button near the opening for the hex key press this.
Blades seem to be stuck on small plastic disk in center borron of disposal.
Continue cranking the wrench back and forth until you are able to rotate it completely in a circle.
I read some disposals have a 1 4 inch hex key bolt that can loosen the plates to help get it out but i can t find anything like that.
This ensures that the disposal can t be turned on accidentally.
Unplug the garbage disposal unit from the outlet it is plugged into.
Position the wrench onto the bolt.
At the base of most disposal units is an opening for a hex key thatlets you manually turn the blades.
It s okay to apply force while doing this.
If the unit is hardwired and has no outlet make sure the switch controlling the disposal is in the off position then turn off the disposal s circuit breaker in your home s service panel breaker box.
